I think that next week is not yet taken, if it's still available when I get home from nightshift I'll try to do another week of check ins.

How is the writing going today?

Feel free to share a snippet from something that you're working on, link to something that you've posted recently. If you need a beta or similar help, just ask.

I haven't had much time this week, but today I was able to do some things! Just a few, here and there, but any progress is still progress.

Here's a rough snippet of the oneshot I'm working on, which is a future installment of the Hold Every Memory series:

Don stayed up all night, that very first night, out in the main room. He could hear the babies crying every so often from behind the closed bedroom door, and once in a while he would look over and spy the door cracked, just a sliver, with a single curious eye peeking through from the shadows beyond.

He didn’t know what Lou thought the portal prototype was.

(It was a failure, is what it was. A decade of work and he still wasn’t home. A failed creation, reflecting a flawed creator-)

Pieces, important pieces, he laid out on the table one by one. Without them, the portal was nothing more than a large fancy frame. Inert.

(He’d thought the one he fell through was inert, though, so really, how safe was safe enough?)

All the jagged bits and sharp edges, he sanded down. All the panels that had been loose or finger-tight – easy access for fiddling whenever he thought he might have a eureka moment, but pinch points, now – he screwed down firmly. The portal itself, leaning heavily against the wall, got itself a few bolts to keep it from falling the wrong way over.

Step by step, Don filed down the claws of the beast that had kept him prisoner all these years.
