Daily Check-In Day 1: Thursday (May)

Good morning! It's the beginning of a new month, and that means new goals (or even sticking to current ones).

So, where are you at in your writing?
  • Planning/researching
  • Writing
  • Editing
  • Spending it to my beta reader
  • Posting it now
  • Shelving it for the time being
  • Getting some rest/taking a break
  • Thinking about writing, but currently bust at the moment
Discussion: What are some tips that have helped you during the writing process, and you want to share with others that could help them out?

Personally, having a bottle of water on my desk has helped a ton with my writing (thanks KrimsonRogue for the tip, and reminder from his NightBane video). If I don't drink water my writing falters, and I can barely concentrate on the task.

Also, this is a reminder to stay hydrated! >:D

I am getting some much-needed rest now that April is over! I took a stab at the April is the Cruelest Month Whump challenge on Tumblr and while I didn't manage to finish it, I did meet my smaller goal of 15k words this month by the skin of my teeth, and that's a big enough accomplishment for me to be proud of!

Over the course of the month, it helped a lot that I had done the outline of ideas for each prompt in advance, but I had a few moments where another premise completely unrelated to the challenge basically kicked the door down to my brain and I couldn't think about anything else no matter how hard I tried. I've found that sometimes if it's bothering you enough, it's in your best interest to deviate from your chosen course to bang out that other idea just to get it out of your head.
