WIP Challenge: Check In, Day 14 - Thursday

I hope the writing has been going well for all of you. I'm making progress. I heard back from my second beta reader, and I'm editing my chapter. I've also started in on the next chapter.

For discussion-- Have you ever written a story with a picture (painting, photograph, whatever), sculpture, song or other similar thing as the inspiration? This could be either with the inspiration in question as the source canon or with it inspiring a story in another fandom entirely.

I don't think that I have done this. It sounds like something that would be interesting to try, though. I'm more intrigued by the idea of something triggering a story in a different canon than in it being the canon itself. I've seen the latter done in Yuletide (to excellent effect), so I'm less curious about it.

I had a really busy day today, but it went well, so I'm feeling good about that. I even feel like getting my story outlines out and seeing if I can jog my memory as to what I was planning to write this month.

I wrote a story for an "art challenge" once, where the story was to be based in Tolkien!verse but where a painting/piece of artwork of my choice from the "real world" was the source of inspiration for the story. I really enjoyed doing it, and didn't have much trouble finding a painting that triggered the idea I needed for a Tolkien canon-based story.

The only piece I've ever written with that kind of inspiration that I can think off of the to of my head is a Tony Stark/JARVIS piece entitled "O Night More Loving Than The Rising Sun", which was prompted by the song "The Dark Night Of The Soul", as performed by Loreena McKinnet on the album "The Mask and The Mirror".

I got a decent chunk of editing done last night and used my Evernote outline to write a short (under 500 words) fic, should have that up tomorrow.

I wrote a fairly dark fic called Dead But Not Asleep after listening to the instrumental piece of the same name on the Bhoot soundtrack.
I've used lyric prompts for challenges too, I quite like thos prompts because I always end up with new music in my collection once I'm finished.

My fic that I'm editing was inspired by a Nietzsche aphorism.

I can't work from or with images. I tried a couple of times but it doesn't work for me.
