I know it's early but how is today going for you?

I haven't started anything yet but I do have the files open with the projects I'm planning on working on for most of the day.

Discussion: Nano. Are you doing nano this year?

I have done it in the past with varying success but I aren't doing this year because I have several projects on the go that I really need to focus my time and effort on, and these are more important to me because I’d like to have some of them finished.

I've written and finally posted my femslashex project! But I have other exchanges to go. I'm going to look at my Yuletide story again, and then I need to write a few things for a lot of Doctor Who communities while waiting on holly_poly.

As you can tell, I don't have time for Nano, but I don't want to participate in it.

I'm not doing Nano this year, although having a significant chunk of the Internet talk about writing is usually pretty motivating to me.
However, Monday will start just my fourth week at a new/demanding job, so I think it'd be way too much to ask of myself, lol.
Last year I'd made a commitment to write 75k words in a year, & got over 50k (I think?!) but didn't make the goal. I was so upset that I didn't make any goals for this year & have therefore written almost-nothing.
I need to figure out what how to manage this - having a huge goal gets me to write, but not making the goal makes me so disappointed in myself that it's probably unhealthy -_-

Anyway! I'm working on a very long fic & would like to get back to it. I posted chapter 3 (finished for many months) last week, & feel compelled to keep writing until I use up all the ideas I have for this fic so that it's done. 27k are posted so far.

Today I updated the draft I keep in Evernote so that chapter 3 matches the final version that was posted.
I also found & reviewed the notes I've written specifically to help me get my 4th chapter from its current state to a complete first draft. Then I went back & reviewed the character arc notes that I have for the fic as a whole, which I found extremely helpful.
I'm hoping to have time to go back through the whole chapter today, but I'm at my parents' house & need to drive back home & do a few other things, so we'll see what happens.

I had hoped I would finish my crossover this weekend, but I'm not quite done yet. After the writing urge last week I've slowed down to my normal pace again. I'm not far from finished, though, I just need to wrap up the plot (I know how and I'm almost done) and think about the final scene.

I've never done Nano and I don't think I ever will. It's really not my thing to write that fast.

I have decided that this week I will open a document every evening and write at least one word. This is my concession to WriSoMiFu, since I don't yet have the discipline to meet the 100 words a day goal. Discipline is my goal, basically.

I did NaNo last time I was unemployed. It was a mixed bag, but right now it's just not what I want creatively.

No new words today, but I did talk over my fic with a friend. She helped me figure out a way to move it forward. I'd been stuck for a couple of days. This one has a soft deadline of Tuesday. I don't know if I'm going to make it. If I don't, then the story can be finished whenever. I just won't be able to post it to the comm.

I suspect that I won't finish the story. We're having work done on the house this week, and there'll be people in and out all day tomorrow (and we'll have limited water access later in the week. I have no idea how much of the yard will get dug up).
