Was pretty much 50/50 for me. RL has been horrible and my writing has pretty much happened when I've been out, guess it's a good thing I always have my notebook with me.
I feel closer to my goals by setting a daily/weekly word count and it feels great whenever I get to my target and of course over it too. I work better when I'm dealing with a stupid level of stress which isn't good but it helps to focus on something that is not RL. With my characters it ultimatey depends on what I'm writing as well the fandom I'm working in.
