I'm definitely inspired to write and have many ideas and a good outline, but a lot of times I have so much going on i RL that my motivation to do something that even remotely resembles work leads me to goof off and surf instead. The only coping mechanism for that is to force myself to stop surfing and start writing. Once I get going on it, I can usually take off and get a lot accomplished. It's always a bit of a battle at first, though.

Being inspired but having no ideas/motivation is, for me, a form of Hell. When I run into that situation I tend to sit and stew... but the best tactic is usually to walk away from it, OR to write something short and silly just to break the logjam.

I've found the only way I can keep myself from surfing the net is to close the browser. If I leave it open while I'm writing, I fall into "just one more email check" every ten minutes. When I keep it closed, I can prevent myself from firing it back up more than once an hour or so.

Stopping surfing is definitely the hardest part!

Also, I am impressed that you can resist opening it up more often. That's great!
