Today's discussion topic is fanmixes! Do you like creating them for your stories? Do they help you get into the mood of the story for writing or does creating them sap your creative energies?

I've created fanmixes for my mainstream ReBoot writings, a medieval/high fantasy ReBoot AU, and Garak/Bashir of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Track listings can be found on my Tumblr.

I find that often making fanmixes helps things to "click" in my head, and gives me much-needed emotional inspiration when the going gets tough. Sometimes the fun lies in finding songs that aaaaaaalmost fit the pairing or the situation, and then pondering the ways in which they match and don't match what I have in mind.

Wrote a little today, still not feeling too good.

Sometimes I make a playlist, but mostly I just put in whatever seems to fit the mood needed for the scene or something that is least distracting.

Finished and posted my Stargate fic today! :D (it's here if anyone wants to read).

I love making fanmixes :) it's one of the first things I do when starting a new project, I find it helps hone my concentration and helps me get on par with the characters's emotions etc.
