WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 3 -- Friday

It's Friday and time for a check in.  I do apologize for missing a second day this week.  It's just one of those weeks!  ;-)

What kind of day have you had today, writing or otherwise?
  • I thought about my fic once or twice
  • I wrote
  • I did some planning and/or research
  • I edited
  • I've sent my fic off to my beta
  • I posted today!
  • I'm taking a break
  • I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment
For Discussion:  How do you deal with writing when you are not always working in the same place or are away from home?  Do you have your work on multiple computers?  Store your drafts on a flash drive and carry it with you? Make use of the cloud or other backup services, carry a notebook (electronic or paper), write on envelopes or napkins?

I had a couple of thoughts about my fic but it's been the sort of day where by the time I finally had a free minute, I couldn't feel less like writing. Meh.

I'v tried using google docs or copies on flash drives but I couldn't keep track of the various versions. I've found carrying a note book around with me to be the best bet. I do have a document to jot notes down on my work flash drive for if I have a free minute but that is rare.

Thoughts, maybe. My brain's tangled with the Following; I can't think straight.

Notebooks. I use several for different stories. Then, when a story is fully posted/written, I switch it to another. I also save on flashdrives so I can work at different computers.

I spent most of yesterday reading Last To Die, it was one of those rare days where I was able to read a book for more than a few minutes without it hurting my eyes. I did think about a fic a little but mostly it was along the lines of what to work on next because I am rather undecided at the moment.

I tend to carry either a a5 or a4 notebook everywhere with me, although my current one is full, I need to pop to Paperchase and buy a new one when I get paid next week. I also use a USB for back up and when I travel I email the most recent versions of what I've been working on a day or so before I leave and work on my tablet and laptop (I take both with me). I also find the Evernote app on my phone and tablet to be good but I often forget to check and sync saved my notes.
