Daily Check-in: Saturday, the 22nd

Sorry, my migraines got the better of me, stupid weather, hot and cold and always moist.

I hope you did ...

... write
... edit
... heard back from your beta
... posted

but maybe you

... read something good
... nursed a new plot bunny
... dealt with real life issues

Beta/Snippet Sharing Day

Well, you know the drill - ask for a beta, share something from your story ...

wrote Friday, just a few sentences but progress is progress. Got more done Saturday. Getting a bit overwhelmed because I'm having to do this w/o an outline, and as different themes and strands of plot pop up I start to worry about doing them justice. But! Onwards.

I was dealing with real life activities this week, so writing was impossible. Thankfully, it's a new week with less going on, so I'm hoping to get my writing time back.

The only writing-related thing I've done is deciding to go ahead and do a rewrite of an old fic that has been clamoring for some attention. It was my first fic ever, and turned out very well, but I want to fix some issues with timing and a few other things that I now realize are mistakes. I'd also like to bring it in line with some of my later writings, since it's pretty much the prequel to my other WIPs. This will involve some new chapters, which will be fun. A lot of the writing is good to go, so I don't think it's going to be that huge of a project -- hopefully not, because I can't neglect my other stories!

I have this... thing... that I keep writing even though I can't ever post it anywhere (it's a what-if AU of another person's fanfic) because the tropes and the basic idea just won't let me go.

In the last two and a half days, I started contemplating whether it might be possible, somehow, to file the serial numbers down dull enough to make it count as an original story. It's a horrifying (in terms of the amount of work - both writing more scenes, and rewriting - that would be involved) yet strangely addictive thought!

The last thing I need is another multi-K fic-in-progress that I'll never finish, but wow is it tempting.
