October Challenge sign ups

It's time to sign up for the October WIP challenge!

Some people join the challenge midmonth, or comment on check-in posts without signing up, which is fine -- I'm glad there's a way for the challenge to be useful in a variety of ways.

But for those of you who find the commitment of signing up useful, please leave a comment with the below information.

Signups will be open until the end of September.

  • Level of challenge: 1 chapter, 1000 words, 1 fic finished, whatever you like
  • Fandom(s) involved: if you know at this point
  • What you're looking for from the challenge: this could be as vague or specific as you like: someone to be accountable to, someone to remind you to write, someone to bounce ideas off, etc.
  • What you could offer other participants yourself: ditto!
  • How people should contact you: DW message, e-mail, IM etc.
  • Time zone: useful for seeing who might be up for a writing session at a time convenient to you

Copypaste below:

I couldn't continue to run this challenge without assistance with the daily check-in posts. Many thanks to everyone who's helped with the check-ins before!

Please let me know if you'd be interested in helping out. A week per person would be ideal (I usually assign weeks running Sunday-Saturday just for consistency). I'm happy to help come up with suggestions for discussion topics (& Friday or Saturday is usually the general chat/snippet/beta-seeking etc. post).

(& if you've completed a fic through the challenge, don't forget our collection on AO3! If you need AO3 invites, let me know.)

Level of challenge: 15,000+ words (because I've been having a dry spell for two months and really need to catch up to a bunch of things)

Fandom(s) involved: Homestuck, Original, Legend of Korra (might do a few others, HOPEFULLY)

What you're looking for from the challenge: Motivation and encouragement! =3

What you could offer other participants yourself: Motivation and encouragement! xD (And if you have a Homestuck, Adventure Time, or Legend of Korra (no Korra/Mako or S2 stuff (haven't seen) though) fic that needs a beta, I'm your gal!)

How people should contact you: PM

Level of challenge: It depends on when the Yuletide assignments actually go out (I could look it up, but I'm lazy). If that comes relatively early, my goal will be finishing that story as soon as possible. If that comes relatively late, I'll work on something else until it arrives.

Fandom(s) involved: Depends. If it's Yuletide, it'll be a secret. If it's not, it'll likely be Weiss Kreuz.

What you're looking for from the challenge: Accountability

What you could offer other participants yourself: I'm happy to do writing sprints/word wars/whatever you want to call it, but I'm apt to be hanging out in the Yuletide chat room because there are more people there. I'm willing to go to #writethisfanfic if I know somebody's going to be there.

How people should contact you: PM works or a comment on any entry in my journal.

Time zone: Eastern (I'm mostly available between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.)

I willing to do a week of check ins in October. I only ask that it not be the week that runs the 13th through the 19th. I'm likely to be distracted then and might forget to post. Any other week is fine.

Level of challenge: More of the same! ;-) I will keep listing these as my goals until they are completed. Goals: At least one new chapter in a long-running WIP; make good progress with the rewrite of an old fic that needs freshening up; finish a WIP that just needs a chapter or two more but which has been sitting dormant; write and post a couple of one-shots that are late for a challenge.

Fandom(s) involved: Lord of the Rings; Major (anime/manga)

What you're looking for from the challenge: encouragement, accountability through daily check ins

What you could offer other participants yourself: encouragement through discussions, accountability through check ins
