Check in: day 5
Sorry I missed yesterday folks, life was rather hectic and I forgot.
How is today going for you?
Discussion: unused prompts. When you sign up for prompt challenges, do you save the ones you didn't use? Do you try to use them after the challenge has finished?
I have quite a lot of unused prompts from various challenges that I’ve signed up for over the years and I have saved them because the inspiration for a fill may strike me after the challenge is over. I also find that an unused prompt can kick start the muse especially when I’m feeling stuck with something that I’ve been working on.

Of course, I've only been up about fifty minutes. I don't know how the rest of the day will really go. It didn't start auspiciously. I set my alarm for eight because the sewer guys said they'd be here at eight-thirty. The electrician was banging on the door at ten to eight. My brain is still catching up.
I do tend to keep old prompts. I have a document where I list prompts and story ideas that I haven't tried starting yet. Every so often, when the document starts to get unwieldy, I go through and delete the ones I know I'm never going to write.

I sometimes save prompts that might be interesting to write about at another time. I save a lot of stuff I don't actually end up writing, but I like to play with it and do research for them, even if it doesn't amount to anything concrete. It's good exercise for the Muse.
