Discussion: unused prompts. When you sign up for prompt challenges, do you save the ones you didn't use? Do you try to use them after the challenge has finished?

I have quite a lot of unused prompts from various challenges that I’ve signed up for over the years and I have saved them because the inspiration for a fill may strike me after the challenge is over. I also find that an unused prompt can kick start the muse especially when I’m feeling stuck with something that I’ve been working on.

I don't save other peoples' prompts from prompt challenges, but I do look at prompts from various prompt memes and challenges for inspiration.

Also, I finished my [community profile] intoabar story. Going to edit and then post it.

Yesterday I wrote a fair bit. I don't know about today-- My daughter's off school (election day), and there will be workmen in and out all day. There's an electrician in the basement right now. The rest of them, bar the plumber, should arrive soon.

Of course, I've only been up about fifty minutes. I don't know how the rest of the day will really go. It didn't start auspiciously. I set my alarm for eight because the sewer guys said they'd be here at eight-thirty. The electrician was banging on the door at ten to eight. My brain is still catching up.

I do tend to keep old prompts. I have a document where I list prompts and story ideas that I haven't tried starting yet. Every so often, when the document starts to get unwieldy, I go through and delete the ones I know I'm never going to write.

I'm getting close to the end of my current WIP, but I still don't feel good about it. Which sucks, because it's an exchange story.

I finally got my Yulefic assignment, so I've doing some research for that in the hopes of getting a spark of inspiration for it.

I sometimes save prompts that might be interesting to write about at another time. I save a lot of stuff I don't actually end up writing, but I like to play with it and do research for them, even if it doesn't amount to anything concrete. It's good exercise for the Muse.
