Sundays are bad for writing for me because I have family obligations, and this Sunday is no exception. We'll be visiting relatives, and I don't expect that I'll have time to write. I'm hoping that this week will be better for writing for me than last week was (last week, we had our sewer line replaced. It was noisy and stressful and expensive).

Do you ever write crossovers? Why or why not? What appeals to you (or doesn't) about crossovers?

I like writing crossovers. I enjoy the challenge of making the different canons fit together. It's surprising what can be written to make sense. I think my favorite crossover that I've written is the one that crossed The Chronicles of Narnia with The Secret Garden. That was a lot of fun to write.

Usually, I don't care all that much about crossovers, but there's one particular type I love: When it's the job of the characters of one fandom to figure things out and the the job of the other fandom's characters to conceal things, and both teams work against each other for a big part of the story. Think Sherlock investigating a murder that Torchwood is trying to redcon because it involves aliens, or the Supernatural guys getting on the wrong end of an NCIS investigation while hunting demons etc. Relatedly, I'm aleays wary of stories where the different teams get on very well from the start. Most of my canons involve teams and characters that are very close-knit, quirky, untrusting or territorial, so it seems more realistic (and fun!) to play with that.

The crossover I'm currently working on is my first crossover. So far it's been fun; I'm really enjoying the outsider POV.

I've written and posted today and I still have another couple of fics to post but they can wait a day or so because I need to finish editing them and also double check something in my research notes.

I'm not keen on crossovers, it's something that's never really grabbed my attention as a writer or a fan in any of my fandoms. I've only written one crossover of L&O with Poirot and that was for a prompt challenge over at lawandorder100 on LJ a few years ago. I liked it because I took a character from the 1930s (Poirot) and put him in early-mid 2000s NYC as a criminal, it was fun and I would still like to turn it into a one-shot at some point.

I've been sick. But when I'm not sick, I can get in 600 words!

I write crossovers. I don't mind them, as long as they're not the "everyone's doing them because of a trend" crossovers. You know, like SuperWhoLock.

I like planning/outlining crossovers, but actually writing them is usually too much work.

Piecing crossovers together until they zip smoothly is just *fun*, for me at least.

Sundays aren't conducive to writing for me, either, though I did manage to do a bit of thinking and made a list of questions that need answering as I plot out something for a Yulefic.

I haven't ever written a crossover, but I do enjoy reading them when other people write them! I am very intrigued by the Narnia/Secret Garden crossover -- two of my favorite stories combined has to be awesome! I will have to check that out. ;-)
