Discussion: canon review. How often do you review canon?

I mainly review canon when I know there are details that I'm not remembering clearly. I'm most likely to do it when I'm writing something that intersects the canonical timeline.

I always review canon for something like Yuletide or Not Prime Time where getting the voice right is important. That's why, for exchanges like that, I mostly limit myself to offering movies and stand-alone books.

I'm a big fan of fandom specific wikis for finding little details in large canons-- Things like finding the names of all of the Fireside Girls in Phineas and Ferb.

I do canon review on a regular basis, sometimes to get the details correct, other times as a way to get re-inspired for writing if I've been away a lot. One of my fandoms is book-based, so I either go straight to the source or use a couple of very well-done wikis if I need to do research on a specific person or place. My other fandom is anime-based, so canon review is a bit more involved, as well as risky -- once I start rewatching episodes for research, I can't stop!

Not too often. I used to review it obsessively, but the nice thing about living in the age of Wiki is that it's much easier to canon-check oneself than it used to be.
