Check-In – Day 24
Format by
linaewen, as before.
— I thought about my fic once or twice.
— I wrote.
— I did some planning and/or research.
— I edited.
— I've sent my fic off to my beta.
— I posted today!
— I'm taking a break.
— I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment.
Question today: This being the Yuletide time of year, there are times when several different challenges overlap. How do you decide which to take and which to pass? Or do you try to do them all in a mad dash?

the reaction to Plus One seems to have died down. I'm really happy with the response that I got. People tend to like the fic, but there's something bothering me.
I write AU, right? decidedly AU, fluffy romance things. and the characters in the fic are all characters in the show, and sometimes they're like their show persona, and other times, they're not.
but people will be like "MC was ooc" and never say a single word about secondary characters being ooc even though the only things that are the same from the show are names and physical appearances. What *is* that?
I'm passing on all challenges this winter. I'm running on fumes creatively. I don't even think I could write a drabble right now.

I wrote the old fashioned way today and also thought about my other WIPs.

I stick with challenges from a fandom community that issues monthly writing challenges and has a Yule Fic exchange in December, so I don't have to deal with overlap. That keeps me plenty busy with fresh writing prompts in addition to the ongoing WIPs I have. I usually offer to be a pinch hitter for the Yule Fic exchange; when they need someone to fill in at the last minute because an author dropped out, is when it turns into a mad dash!
