Discussion: what stops you enjoying reading a fic?

Persisting spelling/grammar issues. Badly-constructed stories. Characterisation which doesn't match my view of the characters. Events that happen for no reason.

Anything that I have to stop and mentally correct tends to 'throw me out' of a fic, although sometimes I keep reading. It's when the issues become too much and they can't be ignored any longer that I stop.

This is going to sound terrible, but I don't actually read a whole lot of 'fic. There's not a whole lot of people who write for my fandoms, usually. ... That being said, if it's clear a 'fic is about an Agenda ™ and not about its source or characters, that's a reason for me to drop it.
