I think I'm taking the day off. Projects still aren't going well. Need to find time T__T

I usually try to post to archives, and am probably going to start using AO3 now, since I just got an invite (I think?). I used to have an LJ comm for my fics, but haven't updated it in at least a year.

I keep track of word counts and pairings, usually? For longer chapter fics, I have a tree-note sort of portable app that I use to keep track of the chapters. I used to have a writing program called WriteItNow! that tracks characters, events, ideas, and all that jazz in one file, but it took too long to start up.

What does everyone else do?

So sorry to hear that your projects aren't going well. I hope things turn around soon and that the weekend is very productive.

Writing was okay--I got about another 800 words done (my usual amount, since I do 750 Words, blah blah) for one of my plotty fics that are giving me so much trouble. AUGH I just wanted a sweet OT3 futurefic w/all the feeeeeeelings, but it's going to take several thousand more words to clear this unwieldy plot out of the way, if it's even workable at all!

I check my hit counts on AO3, perhaps a little too often, heh. I dunno if that's what you mean by keeping track? Or do you mean organizationally?

Good job on maintaining a steady word count. If I had a plot for a longer story, I could probably manage that but I'm working form week to week on random stuff, so it's whatever comes out.

And, yes, I did mean organizationally. :)

Ahahaha, so I totally misunderstood. I just have all my fics in a big file on Dropbox. They're not organized at all, but I ought to at least make a WIP folder & a Completed one. ^^;;;

I've taken the day off as well, mostly. I got my fic back for the beta and have revised the fic and it is ready for posting next Wednesday. YAY! Now I can get a jump start on the following week's fic.

I converted a couple of episodes of a TV show from DVD to iPod/iPad format. I posted several RH fics to the RH Fan Fiction Archive. I watched several eps of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.

As for tracking fics, I do! I have a spreadsheet with a page for each different fandom. I track start date, finish date (month/year), word count, rating, sites where I've posted, the summary, and in the case of LiveJournal and Dreamwidth, I track the URL for the post, um...and if it was written for a specific comm or event (like drabble fests, etc). It's been so useful.

Haven't written yet today. I went to see "Thor" (for work, yet!), and while it was awesome, I needed some internets to get my brain back in the present day. *g*

As to tracking my fics - online, I don't do much. I was keeping a fic list on my journal for a while (I occasionally update it, whenever I want to do something that requires me to say "here's a list of all my fics"), but mostly I just: post everything to LJ/Dwth first; xpost to my journal if it's a comm thing; tag it all "fic"; put up the good stuff on AO3 after a while.

On my computer, OTOH, I've got everything obsessively sorted by fandom. The finished stuff is named "PUB - [publication title]"; stuff currently working on is "WIP - [working title]"; hibernating stuff is usually "that [whatnot] thing" or similar. Keeps it tidy with a minimum of effort.

Now I'm going to skedaddle off and write... ;-)

Awesome! I made some great progress on a challenge fic that's due in a month. I had a nice block of time this morning to work with and the creativity came and stayed with me when I needed it. Then I had to go to work, but maybe I'll be able to get a few more words written before bedtime.

My word count for the day is currently at 936 -- I won't sleep until I at least break 1,000 words. ;-)

My fics are mostly posted at various fannish sites, which I look at from time to time to see how they are doing. The things I mostly keep track of are hits or reads, so even if there aren't comments, I know people are at least looking! Comments usually come to me in my email, so I don't really have to keep track of them.

Today was mostly a day off, but I quickly edit the short fic I finished yesterday and had send it to my beta. Tomorrow I plan to have myself have a huge editing day as I want to fix some stuff on two of my stories.

I had kept track of the stories I posted in a master fic list in my livejournal and a lot of them are on FFnet and A03, both of them cool for archive purposes. In my documents folder I kept track of the fics first by fandom and then something specific like fic contests, auctions, Big Bangs, writing challenges, etc.

I'm back!

So, didn't wrote anything on Thursday, but I got almost 1'110 works yesterday, \O/

Word count so far: 6'000 words (all written in May) and I have no idea how this will be (it shouldn't have exceeded the 2'000 at first, so... ^^;;

Research? none. I've been busy trying to retrieve all the tabs I lost when my browser crashed. Since I tend to keep tabs opened for weeks at a time, I had to go through April and May's history and I can't believe how many pages I opened O.O

Do you keep track of your fics?
Word count and pairing. DW's tags for the pairing and the Master Fic Lists for the word count. But all my fics aren't there, as almost half of them aren't/won't be published.
When I begin a fic, I name the file Fandom - Number - Title (chapter if necessary). To give you an idea, I have 15 FFVII (complete) fics in my folder but only 8 of them are published. The others I don't like/are in French/are way too old and full of mistakes.
Also, I have one folder by fandom in which I have my complete stories and another folder for the WIPs/various drafts.
