Discussion: Do you set aside time to write during the day? Do you write when you have time?

I have a set time during the morning when I write, but if I have time during other parts of the day, I go for it.

I've just heard this trick that by writing some early in the morning, my mind will focus on the wip all day, adding little bits whenever i can take a break so that's what i'll try this week.

Yesterday I began to write this prompt. Simple, right? An idea came to me almost immediately. Of course, it's today, I have two hours left to complete it, and it isn't done. How complicated is it to write 100 words about plants? WTFH is wrong with me?!

I try to stick to routine as much as possible - it works better for me and results in fewer days where I don't write at all. So I have time set aside for writing in the evening, which is when I most reliably have time.

Even so, I've started trying to make writing my go-to (or at least in the running) for when I have just a few minutes to kill, too. I carry a notebook in my bag so that I don't have an excuse not to. If I'm having to wait around while my partner runs errands, or have downtime at work, I try to get at least a few lines written.
