Discussion topic... I think we covered this at some point, but I can't remember. :/

I haven't written yet but I feel good.

I also finished and posted a Strike Back story late last night.

It's going ridiculously well, on three stories in rotation. One keeps sparking ideas that go into the next, so I'm switching back and forth. It's a very odd feeling.

And nope, I rarely name chapters. It's like Aspirin's quotes in the Myth books -- if you start, people expect you to go on. ;->

Yesterday went well, and I've got to keep that ball rolling. I agree it's hard enough to come up with one title in the first place!

Haven't written anything but have been plotting some of the details of my next fic.

Whether I name my chapters or not depends entirely on the fandom and the genre I'm writing in. So, for instance, I did name my chapters in the one Harry Potter fic I wrote, because JKR did so too, and I was trying to keep the writing style as close to canon as possible while deviating wildly on characterisation. Usually, though, I don't bother.

Nothing happening yet, but I'm feeling good about my prospects for writing later today. So I'm hoping for at least a good if not a great!

I don't name my chapters while I'm writing or when I post for the first time. I usually go back and give a name to chapters afterwards, when I am posting them to the archive -- for the really long fics, at least. Shorter ones don't often get titled chapters. I think I started doing it because other writers were doing it at the archive I was using, and I rather liked the idea. It is a pain sometimes thinking of one, but not too bad for the most part. For my longer fics, I also find it's helpful to me as the author in figuring out what's what just by looking at the title. I often need to check back and remind myself of something I wrote so I don't make a mistake down the road, or need to figure out when a certain character first appeared, that sort of thing. So the titles are more often than not for my own benefit, even as they serve as a wee synopsis and possibly a hook for the reader.

Awlful writing today because of work and other commitments. Had what seemed like a good idea for fixing scene one, but it didn't work in practice. Still not enough peaceful editing time.

Sometimes Ive named the parts of my fics, other times not. I don't feel strongly one way or the other, except it's easier to find my way around a draft if things have labels on them.

Today was somewhere between okay and good. Got some writing done on my TGW fic and also some outlining done on my smallfandombang fic. I guess I was lucky that I had no seminars this afternoon and a long(ish) gap between my last lecture and an appointment that allowed me time to get some work done.

The only fic I have chapters on is my huge WIP and some are named, some aren't. I rarely write anything long enough for it to have chapters, let alone name them.

No writing today. Still doing some beta work. It's a looooong story.

I don't name my chapters. In fact, I almost never have chapters at all. I post lump sum all the way.

No writing today, but I looked over my halloween fic with a friend and got it set for posting on Monday.

I name the chapters in some of my fics. I find naming chapters way easier than naming the whole thing. I like names because they're a tiny summary of what happens in the chapter. Or they get people worrying, or they're amusing in some way. I first started naming them with a crackfic, which lent itself to all sorts of amusing chapter names.

Let me change that to awesome! I did some reorganizing of my outline and that gave me a fresh way of looking at things, so after writing some 750 new words (for a total of 1,344), I think I might have a complete chapter at last! What a relief it is to finally be moving on this particular WIP again, after being stalled for more than a year.

Got some last minute editing done on my Big Bang and had send the first four chapters (Chapters 1-3 finalized while Chapter 4 is a rough draft) to the mod and Chapter 4 to my beta. Also, edited my Halloween fic and send that to my beta. Yay for able to get edits done and sending them! XD

Before I would name the chapters because in the fandom I was in almost everyone was. Sometimes chapter names are great for mentioning a bit what it's going to be about or once you get a theme going. My Big Bang though I haven't given the chapter names as I'm unsure how to go about that and I don't think the chapters needed the names.

I find it hard enough to name my fics, let alone the chapters - although I did so in one multi-part fic which ended up with ten chapters all titled after something to do with the weather at sea - Entering Safe Harbour, The Calm Before the Storm, Eye of the Storm, that kind of thing. It was really difficult when getting towards the end of it, although I always knew that the last chapter would be titled Entering Safe Harbour. The rest ended up a complete jumble of things. I really ought to go through and re-title them so that the order gives the impression of the storm building. (Which would be the other reason I don't title my chapters!)
