WIP Check-in, Day 8

I saw this quote today and it made me think about something I'm pretty sure we've talked about before, but it's worth talking about again!

Sometimes... love of the written word is really just a fetish for stationary.

What items have you used to scribble down story ideas or snatches of text when you didn't have your computer or notebook handy?  Envelopes?  Napkins?  The back of your hand?

I haven't done anything writing related today, but I am planning on spending tonight reading through one of my WIPs to remind myself where I'm at, and then see if I can't get some words down for the next chapter.

Many of my jotted notes are on church bulletins -- something about being in church gives me writing ideas! I also have a lot of bits and bobs scribbled on post it notes (I have pads of these all over the place at work and at home and they are handy for grabbing when an idea comes and I don't feel like running for a notebook). Even after I transfer the notes to the proper computer document or writing notebook, I have a tendency to save the scribbled notes, because sometimes things get buried when they are on the computer, but I keep the scribbles in a special place and go through them at intervals to remind myself of good ideas!

My goal for today was to finish writing up the scene I started yesterday, which I did (did close to 600 words today)! Another goal is to get editing of the fourth chapter of my Big Bang done. Was able to get through some, but man still lots of notes to go through. D: POLITICAL TALKS ARE HARDDDD. No work tomorrow so I might be able to get a lot more done then, otherwise I'll just take it a little at a time.

I tend to jolt down ideas on napkins or scraps of paper if I find them. I tend would have to save them either in my purse or the pocket of my pants, haha.

No words written -- it was my 4-hours-on-trains day of the week & also I have a cold. But I did spend a significant amount of the time on trains thinking seriously about titles for the various Kaleidoscope pieces I'm working on & I think I'm making progress! Also continue to be v. happy w/the fics.

I think I mostly have ideas when I have at least some kind of paper around, ha! Except if it's right before I go to sleep, & then I'm usually too lazy to get out of bed & do anything to save the idea, sob.

Yesterday I wrote :) got around 1000 words on my big bang. I do need to type them, and the plan today is to get some more work done on it.
I have another fic to finish that came to me before I went to bed last night, so I'm typing that up now and posting it later today.

Did more rewatch too and found/noticed a few things that will be useful especially for the big bang fic. Win.

I scribble bits down on anything I can find. Oddest thing I've written on is gum wrapper but I always make sure I have something with me so I can get some ideas down.

Only my minimum word account last night, and it all seems very bland. Meh. And I did my research through reading fic. (It was a very detailed fic!) That has to do.

I usually carry a pad around me in case I suddenly have to write. Strangest place was a club at 2 in the morning because I was tired of dancing and couldn't find my friends. But I've also scribbled on gum wrapper and receipts and the like, and very frequently on the side of lecture notes.

No words written, but... an idea happened. A fairly crack-ish AU fanfic idea with a fairly ahistorical happy ending for everybody, but I may just write it anyway, even if I'm not showing it to anybody except a couple of friends.

... I usually carry a small notepad with me. For all kinds of things - helps clearing my mind.
