Date: Tuesday, November 29th, 2011 23:32 (UTC)Today I didn't write anything new, but I did do a bit of editing on the 3rd part of a series I've been posting, which feels pretty good!
I wouldn't be able to write what I have w/o 750 Words. That's the tool I rely on most for keeping a writing practice! I'm on a 500+ day streak now, heeeeee.

Date: Wednesday, November 30th, 2011 01:22 (UTC)I recently discovered FocusWriter, which is pretty excellent for getting rid of distractions. As for writing by hand: I used to write Only With My Fountain Pen, but then I forgot it one time and found that no, I really did not need it at all. I still prefer fountain pen or biro to felt tip or pencil or anything like that, though.

Date: Wednesday, November 30th, 2011 03:25 (UTC)As for today, I did a bit of beta reading and critiquing, so that was good. And now I'm continuing with my revising. That's coming along pretty well also. I'm pleased with the progress I'm making.
As for the discussion topic...no specific tools, really. I do like to have access to dictionary.com and thesaurus.com when I work because sometimes I have to have just the right word.

Date: Wednesday, November 30th, 2011 06:37 (UTC)There are a few websites I use for canon research which vary from fandom to fandom. Other than that don't think I have been relying on other tools save for dictionary.com and thesaurus.com like jagnikjen to pick out the right outs

Date: Wednesday, November 30th, 2011 09:50 (UTC)Generally speaking, I don't rely on anything in particular. As long as I can write or type with it comfortably (which is harder than it seems sometimes for me,) then I'm good to go that way anyway.

Date: Wednesday, November 30th, 2011 10:45 (UTC)For handwriting fic and everything else too I use frixion pen because they have a little eraser on the end and the ink is eraseable. Slight downside is that they're £2.49 for 1 and £5 for a pack of 3 but they are really good and there's a good choice of colours.
For typing I use Jarte because of the option to change the background colour from white, which helps with my visual stress. I also use texthelp but that's a specialist software for dyslexics.
I do sometimes use the word2go program on my phone but only when I know I'll have not computer access for a couple of days.

Date: Wednesday, November 30th, 2011 21:08 (UTC)My writing habits change all the time, thoug I do like to write on paper most of all.
Ive signed up for the 750w month challenge for next month, with the personal promise that its for fanfic only. Occasionally their webpage has lost (failed to save) my text, so I may try cutting and pasting to it instead.

Date: Wednesday, November 30th, 2011 21:22 (UTC)That's actually pretty cool that you learned that you don't need the fountain pen to get ideas out!

Date: Wednesday, November 30th, 2011 21:25 (UTC)I might have to look out for those pens; they sound good! Though I hardly do any hand-writing these days, partly b/c it's so much slower for me, partly b/c of RSI-type issues.
I've never thought about the background color when I type (though I notice background colors for reading webpages, so I don't know why!). Maybe I should tinker w/that.

Date: Saturday, December 3rd, 2011 14:25 (UTC)I have to use a background colour when I'm typing otherwise the white hurts my eyes too much.
