Discussion question: What's a fandom you enjoy reading fics for but will never write for?

No writing quiet yet, but I'll be getting to it shortly.

A fandom I love reading from but probably will never write for is Naruto. I tend to love reading fanfics over the cannon material since it tends to give characters like Sakura and Hinata more things to do than they do in the actual manga. I haven't touched the manga in over a decade, and probably won't since I'm not a fan of the direction the last arcs went, even with some of the sick as hell characters (Killer B!!).

No writing done today but I got a lot of other things done towards our big move coming up in 10 days.

I am a huge Sherlock Holmes fan and read as many fics and pastiches as I can get my hands on, but even though I have contemplated writing in that fandom, I don't think I could actually manage a mystery.

I told myself I was going to write before bed and, in a surprise twist, I... actually did???

I'm trying to "just write" which feels very unhelpful as advice, but also like an active threat to my brain's perfectionism, so it's probably very useful. Today's fic is for day 1 of No True Pair.

I almost said, "I can't think of one" but then I remembered My Big Fandom: The Lord of the Rings.

I would love to. I have read so much for it (and have fond nostalgia for having read so much for it back on Ye Olde Internete as a youth), but I feel like I'd never be able to do it the way I'd love to.

(although, to be fair, this is almost a lie?? because I actually did write one (1) fic for it, but it was specifically for A Gag that still amuses me to this day, but that doesn't feel like it "counts" for the kind of LOTR fic I read and imagine in my mind)

I have thought about writing Naruto in the past but it seems like it would be really complicated somehow! I love reading Shikamaru fic!

All the fic I write is LotR, I sometimes wish I could write something else, but my brain is wired for Tolkien, I guess! Your Gag fic sounds fun!

I really should take a dive into LOTR fanfic. I've stumbled on a few that seem right up my alley, even though my familiarity is limited to The Hobbit book, the 00s movie adaption, and the 70s/80s animated adaptions.
