For discussion: Is there anything you've learned through your job or other daily routines that you've been able to put to work writing fic? & is there anything you've learned writing fic that you've been able to use in other parts of your life?

A long time ago I worked as a copywriter/copyeditor/proofreader, so those skills come in handy for writing fic. I don't know if there's anything I've been able to port back the other way though.

Still working on a fill for eastasianfandomgiftbag. No new words on it today but some small progress in editing. I would've been able to do more if I wasn't so tired (& I took a lovely nap, except the neighbors' TV woke me up while I was deeeeeeeeply asleep, so the rest of the evening I've been groggy).

Today's word count is technically -2900. Eek! However the fic works just as well without that plot thread and arguably reads better. Still need to add a few scenes to make it work completely now those other ones have been taken out and edit it some more but I'm feeling reasonable okay about it. (of course it could be argued that I'm beyond the panic stage so,)

I work in rhet/comp and the reminder that it's all process, and that revision is vital, kind of stuck. *reflects* The grammar helps, too.

I finished my Yuletide fic! Yay me!
... which leads to me having no brain to answer the discussion question. *thinks* I think I mostly learned how to deal with being edited/beta read.

Got close to around 900 words so far. I actually first had written a short ficlet I suddenly thought of while away from home, which was 300 words. I then wrote another scene I wanted to write for my Big Bang, which got to 600 words. Man, I really need to get back to writing my help_japan fic, but I keep thinking up ways of changing my Big Bang story. D: Hopefully that will pass.

As for the discussion question, don't think anything in my job or daily routine I was able to put work when writing fic. I got nothing, lol.

Oooh, sometimes I find it really satisfying to chop out scenes & things -- panic or no, sounds like a good sign that you were able to do that & feel okay.
