Yikes, I totally missed Tuesday, I'm so sorry! I even forgot to post to my own check in post on Monday to join the discussion -- I think that means I am not managing my time very well this week. ;-) In any case, it's Wednesday today, and that means the week is half over! How has it been going for you either yesterday or today with your writer-ly pursuits?
- I wrote
- I did some planning and/or research
- I edited
- I've sent my fic off to my beta
- I posted today!
- I'm taking a break
- I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment

Date: Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 17:28 (UTC)I'm on track for this week, and even a little ahead of expectations. If one of my editors drops a sudden packet of work in my lap that might derail me (paying gigs before pleasure, after all), but otherwise if I can keep up this pace I'll have a goodly word count under my belt come Sunday.
Hope everyone else's week is going spectacularly! :)

Date: Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 18:04 (UTC)Today I have been judging a contest entry, but as I have succumbed to the sickness being passed around my house, I may rest and read tonight rather than do much writing.
Discussion topic...this week, my routine is still out of whack due to me. I just haven't made the effort to enforce it. (And now I'm sick and need to sleep more.)
The one thing that might help is not having to work and being home enjoying the peace and quiet. Of course, that might also be the hindrance--being home would be also be nap-inducing. :)

Date: Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 18:54 (UTC)I write late at night, in bed, and for as long as I can stay awake. It works for me, at the moment, although I would really like to get back to writing on my laptop during the day in stead. Less strain on the wrists that way. :-)

Date: Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 19:29 (UTC)So... I'm trying to focus on stories where I've only written up the general outline of the plot.

Date: Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 20:40 (UTC)That said, I've written a lot of new words this week, which is potentially useful!
... I might see if anyone wants to do a writing session this weekend, cuz I find it easier to edit while I'm in one lately for some reason! Also perhaps I ought to print out some of my WIPs at work for hard-copy editing; that helps me too.
What might hinder me is being low on sleep & thus even more distractible. ^^;;; I did take a nap earlier this evening, which helped a little (still a bit groggy though!).

Date: Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 20:46 (UTC)Usually how I get back in the writing routine is I just do whatever I can to make some progress, from wrapping up one scene that needed just a few more sentences to writing whatever's in my mind at the moment for a particular chapter I want to work on. For this week I want to get editing done on both my Big Bang and help_japan fics. I had a slow start with that but I'm getting there.

Date: Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 21:05 (UTC)It's a courtship story at this point, one which seeks to deal realistically with the numerous thorny problems Julian Bashir would have encountered if he'd decided to pursue Elim Garak after the events of "The Wire". He has to face not only the political issues raised by a senior Starfleet officer considering issuing a marriage proposal to a known operative of an enemy government, but also the matter of just how the hell he's supposed to go about it, because in Cardassian culture you don't just go up to someone you want to have a long-term serious emotional/sexual relationship with and say "Hey, you're pretty groovy, let's move in together and fuck like rabbits." Plus he has to keep Garak in the dark while he's figuring things out, because... well, it's explained in the story. ;)

Date: Wednesday, January 11th, 2012 23:15 (UTC)My routine this week has been shot to hell. I was only just starting to get into a proper one again but between getting the new puppy on Monday (who is utterly adorable) and knitting like a fiend for a present this Monday coming, I've managed very little. I knew it was coming though so I allowed myself the leeway and anything I do get written this week I'm considering a bonus. Generally speaking, tiredness is what hinders me and getting a good nights sleep as well a a relatively quiet day at work works wonders for me getting stuff written.

Date: Thursday, January 12th, 2012 01:27 (UTC)Discussion: I'm actually on track, with the way I write. I usually need a day or two to let the idea's percolate when going from the bones of the story to fleshing it out. My biggest help and hindrance is real life. I may find the time while at work when there are less distractions writing or I might be busy. It would help if I could concentrate easier writing at home.

Date: Thursday, January 12th, 2012 07:20 (UTC)*facepalm*
Because why should I work on the millions of WIPs I have, rather than grabbing something totally new?
On top of everything, my routine is totally shot for the next two weeks, because I have a houseguest. She's actually my beta, so she'll probably be understanding if I do some writing... but I don't want to be rude.
That said, I already got to write today... I cranked out a quick drabble for a prompt over at
