A treat is an extra fic (or other fanwork, in the case of this exchange, which covers art/AMVs too) -- a little bonus that doesn't have to meet the minimum length requirements for main assignments. It can be for your assigned recipient or someone else (this is partly why people put up Dear Person Who Has Me as a Recipient letters for exchanges, in case someone else sees their prompts & gets inspired ;).
