Friday is sharing-day! \o/ Show us your snippets if you have 'em, ask for a beta (or whatever else you need), or just sum up the past week. Have you been productive? Are you filled with confidence about your project, or is that empty page mocking you?

This check in is actually for three nights of work given the timing of the posts and my missing yesterday's.

Yuujinchou Exchange (due Mar 17): First draft complete. I have both sets of notes! I've polished the first five scenes and will continue working through the rest tonight.

Yuujinchou Exchange Bonus Treat #2 (due Mar 24): 678 new words. I've finally figured out what I'm doing with this (mostly), and it won't be a million words long either! \o/Current word count: 1,072

Help_Japan (due 18 years ago - 750 word min): No new words. I promise to give this love after the Yuujinchou exchange stops eating my brain. O.o Current word count: 3,666

Well, God damnit, watching Tim DeKay dance (that guy can move *drools not-so-discreetly*) shot my Hotch-voice all to hell. Not even two eps of Criminal Minds could get the voice of Peter Burke out of my head.

Well. Nothing to do but get the best out of it. So now I've started on that White Collar Criminal Minds crossover that's been rumbling around my head for a while.

Meanwhile, I give you a snippet of my Criminal Minds Rossi/Prentiss story...

For a minute or two, silence reigned. Then Rossi spoke.

"Well. You could always move into my place. It's certainly big enough, even if you do get a few foster-kids."

The silence stretched. The heads of everyone swiveled back and forth, from Rossi to Prentiss and back again.

"I... Rossi, I can't do that. I mean, you can't be serious! Do you have any idea of the noise, the... the mayhem?"

Rossi nodded. "I know. I just don't care. The place feels like a mausoleum. It's too big and too empty for me alone."

"Then... why did you buy it in the first place?"

Rossi shrugged. "It seemed like a good idea at the time. Maybe I thought I'd try my luck with a fourth wife. Either way, I wouldn't mind the company, and I definitely wouldn't mind some kids to liven the place up a bit. And, at any rate, I'm hardly home anyway."

Prentiss actually cleared her throat before she could speak. "I... don't know what to say."

"You need more? How about this; I'm not going to have any kids, either. I find I don't really mind the idea of helping raise a bunch of other people's kids. Hell, if it'll help you get approved faster, put my name on the forms, too. I'm not going to stay in the Bureau for ever, you know."

Prentiss' eyes were distinctly damp. "This is crazy, Rossi! I've been thinking about this for months, and you make a decision like that in five minutes?"

"I've thought about something like that before," Rossi said. "But if you think I need more time to think about it, I can tell you the same in a week."

I finally came up with a bunny I'm pleased with for my next project so I'm very happy with that. Another 200 words on the big bang which I'm okay with as I've been thinking about the next scene in the escape which seemed rather implausible but I think works better now.

Speaking of the big bang, I'm looking for a story flow/plot hole beta. Probably not until about tuesday, it's going to be about 12k and it's sort of a spy thriller thing. I know I'm not going to get a fandom beta (Tweed & Co by Colin Forbes has no fandom) but would anyone be interested in giving it a quick once over to give thoughts on any plot holes or implausibilities?

Although this week has been unbearable RL wise I've got 2 fics nearly ready for posting, both are for prompt_in_a_box. Quite pleased with that given everything that's happening.

No snippet but I'll link back to both later on.

I finally have a title for my casestory fic but not a summary but this is getting a lot of attention tomorrow. Quite confident just now but somehow been miserable and stressed gets words out of me.

I like the interaction between Rossi and Prentiss.

And yeah, Tim Dekay is distracting. But I was more distracted by some clothes he was wearing than his dancing.

Writing, sort of. I ended up writing two short fics for prompts on comment_fic on LJ and some words on my main fic. I just want to read for some reason. I ended up going through a bunch of Cooper Anderson fics on fanfiction. And making a macro for tumblr.

My brain, it dead.

This week has been interesting. I'm writing a story I'm not sure I know how to write, but that's what practice is for, right? I have two stories going right now, but one is filling up my head, the follow up to Displacement. So here's the (current, tentative) opening for Sublimation. It's the same opening scene as Displacement, only from Sherlock's perspective.

Adrenaline is still flowing from the case, from solving the case, running yellow-red flashes through his blood. The last three days have been nothing but the mind, locked up inside himself and coming out only to bounce the sound of his voice off John. Sherlock's voice is grey, but when it comes back to him from John, it brightens to blue. John's voice is orange-gold. This is how Sherlock always hears.

He hears tension in John's footsteps as they climb the stairs to the flat. He suspects he is the cause, but isn't sure why. He feels the presence of John pressing around him and against his skin like swaddling. It's a feeling he's coming to associate with home.

So when John leaves a few minutes later, it's unsettling.

Then, unsettled for being unsettled, Sherlock flips through his latest set of notes to find where he left off, and begins pulling unspeakable things from the refrigerator.

I haven't really been writing much, but there has been lots of planning going on inside my head. I think I finally know where I'm going with my queerbigbang. \o/

Also, I could do with a beta for my [community profile] 1sentencefic fic. It's basically 50 unconnected sentences about a particular pairing. If anyone would be willing to beta it, that would be awesome. Canon knowledge isn't necessary, mostly I just want to know if my sentences make sense and actually tell a story. (Warning, though: the canon & characters in question are My Chemical Romance, Gerard and Mikey, so it's RPF and incest.)

Rather than working on my wip, I start a new fic of 1K. So it's fine? But I need to get back to my wip as soon as possible.

Beta A still haven't gotten back to me yet on her progress looking over my Big Bang fic. She did a tumblr post saying she has been betaing while her roomate was playing a video game, so I guess that means she's working on it LOL. Meanwhile had been writing both my help_mindanao fic and my god_tier fic, a couple hundred words a day at least. I too swear I'll get to writing my help japan once I get through at least my Big Bang and God Tier fic. @_@

I had something of a crisis of faith and spent most of my free time debating whether or not it would be best to scrap what I currently have for the [community profile] bloodyvalentine bingo, and start over with different ideas. Then I wrote about 1 page for an idea that's been nibbling at my brain for awhile. :P

Still not sure what to do as far as bingo goes, but maybe a day or two of not working on it will give me better perspective.

I ended up writing about 1000 words of plotting for a new 1920's AU story, "Wound". All in all not bad, considering my deadline is still a gorilla on my back.

Heres's a snippet from "Charm", a story from that same AU:

***********************************

The candlelight was warm and flattering on the expensive tableware and white damask tablecloth, the wine (brought in from his own cellars) excellent, the food exquisitely prepared and punctiliously served. Garak would have expected no less: Chez Promenade was one of the most prestigious French restaurants in a city full of master chefs, which was why he patronized it so frequently. But this evening his pleasure was not focussed on the flawlessness of the dining experience, because Julian Bashir was seated across from him, that sweet slender body clad in an expensive tuxedo Garak had crafted with his own hands, those brilliant hazel eyes alight with earnest conviction as he debated the relative (and complicated) merits of Voltaire versus Nietzsche.

He was speaking right now, in fact, a rapid flow of easy (but never ill-considered) words in fluent French, charmingly accented with the slight drawl of Lyons oddly combined with a lingering British inflection. The overall effect was utterly endearing and Garak, replying in perfect Parisian, made no effort to conceal his fond smiles when the darling boy had rare difficulties in finding exactly the right word, and gently supplied suggestions when necessary. The pretty doctor learned fast — he'd only known Garak, and been speaking with him in that language on a frequent basis, for a few months, and already he was almost up to Garak's range of vocabulary: once he heard a word and comprehended its meaning he never seemed to forget it. It was a remarkable trait among the many he possessed, and one of the reasons that they were sitting here now, enjoying a gourmet meal before repairing upstairs to a luxury suite to savour more carnal delights.

It was all very gratifying, and Garak wasn't quite used to it yet.
