When you're not writing fic or reading it, what do you read? Books, magazines, blogs? Anything else? Do you have that one book that you have to re-read from time to time?
At the moment I'm reading The BFG and Carra.

Added about a hundred words during editing, and came up with a title so I'm pleased, despite the fact I didn't get it finished and posted like I had hoped.

I wrote about 350 words. It felt great. I've been blocked on this fic for several days, so I feel like I made real progress. It's only 7 p.m. here right now, so I still have time for more writing. Maybe I'll even get to the point of having something happen in the story!

My day has been non-stop action since I woke up, so I'm pretty fried at the moment. The last couple of days have been similar -- though I did manage to get in some research and have thought through a couple of plot points that I'm itching to write up in coherent fashion. If I could just think coherently now....

I do have a few blogs I follow, but for the most part I'm reading books if I'm not writing or reading fic. I have a whole pile of books that I like to reread at intervals -- in fact, it's the oldies but goodies that I tend to favor these days, rather than read new stuff. The familiar seems to be more relaxing, somehow. Also, some of my favorite things to read are in the main fandom that I write, so it's easy to keep my mind on writing even as I'm relaxing with a book!

Today was a great day! I wrote about 2,000 words, most of it shamelessly smutty. I crossed the 30,000 word mark on my WIP, so I'm looking at probably 60,000-70,000 by the time I'm done. Of course, now I'm having a major crisis of confidence, you know, where you think everything you just wrote probably sucks terribly? Ugh.

I've been reading the original Arthur Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes stories, which I never got around to before. I also spend way too much time reading on Tumblr and LJ/DW. The one book that I come back to for comfort reading is always A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.

Beta A FINALLY got back the rest of Chapter Six of my FMA Big Bang and been editing a bit. She also told me she should be able to get back Chapter Seven later tonight or tomorrow, so looking forward to that. Tomorrow I plan to get the finishing touches of Chapter Six ready and send it to Beta B for her to look over real quick.

I too read LJ and Tumblr a lot, LOL. As far as books go, at the moment I'm reading the second Hunger Games book, Catching Fire. I have all three Hunger Games books on my phone along with some Scott Fitzgerald works so I have more than enough reading material I'll go through slowly, heh.

I didn't do a whole lot of writing today, but what I did do was very important. I am, however, very excited about the progress my fic is making. This has been the chapter from hell, but finally I feel like the end is in sight. All I have left to do is about a page or less worth of writing that will connect two scenes together, and then a few hundred words or so of smut (which I'm not looking forward to at all, ugh so out of my comfort zone).

As for reading material - I spend a lot of time on tumblr. Also, I have a huge backlog of books I should be reading but I'm not, and I'm slowly making my way through the Complete Sherlock Holmes collection. Not to mention the book on my nightstand that I just can't get into, but so help me I will finish it because now it's the principle of the thing. I've noticed I tend to re-read manga more often than actual books (especially Yotsuba!&, which seems to be my go-to comfort/cheering-myself-up read). It probably has to do with how slowly I read.

The other day I posted a fic that's been plaguing me forever, which was v. satisfying, especially considering otherwise April was a wash for fic & so far May will probably be too (though that's partly b/c of vacation!).

I wrote about 2200 words and completed (and posted) two more DS9 prompt!fics, "Cool" and "Pleasure". As well, I wrote and posted the first draft of the opening of a new Lethe!verse story, "Rain".

I read books (mostly non-fiction) and blogs, and that's about it. :) Magazines do absolutely nothing for me unless they're online.
