Greetings on Thursday! It's a bit later in the day than I had hoped to be posting, but I'm finally here. How did things go for you today?
Did you write?
For Discussion: Do you find that ideas for stories or writing projects come to you out of the blue, or do you have to search for them? What serves as the basis for most of your stories? A situation? A character? A moral dilemma?

Date: Friday, August 24th, 2012 01:20 (UTC)Most of my ideas pop in from nowhere. I might be daydreaming or talking to my BFF and then I start wondering "what if XYZ thing happens to ABC character?" In truth, I dislike specific prompts because I can't shake off the feeling that I'm not writing the story that the prompter wanted. The one exception is reverse big bangs because I find both art and music inspiring. :)

Prompts bite my ankles, things that came in from left field bite my ankles... a lot of unsolicited biting of ankles, all or most phrased in a "What if X did Y instead of Z/What if X happened instead of Y" or suchlike. I love my what-ifs, and have trouble prodding characters into doing things without a situation to hang characters on.
