Following my previous post, I have received several links, and done some experimenting. So here is a rundown on how to install a word meter on your DW journal, so that you can keep track of your progress.

There are three different word meters here. We'll start with languageisavirus.com's word meter, simply because it is the first one I found.

Languageisavirus Nano Word meter.

2233 / 20000 words. 11% done!

Option 1 )

So onto our next meter. You'll notice some of the steps are the same.

Writertopia's Picometer

Option 2 )

The final word meter is associated with a site you might be familiar with: Write or Die. If you're not familiar with it, Write or Die is an app where you can set a timed goal, and a target word count, then you start writing. It has consequences for failing to meet your target - the site boasts that it puts the 'prod' in productivity, and even has an 'electroshock mode'. (I think this last is an exaggeration, but I'm not willing to try it to find out.) But it's probably quite appropriate that they have a way to track your overall writing progress.

Option 3 )

Thanks to [personal profile] intothisshadow  and [personal profile] littlebutfierce  for giving me some very helpful links. I hope this helps you with your own word counts!

I love all the cheerleading & commiserating going on in yesterday's check-in post! Yay! How's it going today?

Behold, a poll! You're surprised, I know it. )

And in keeping with the fanfic flamingo theme, let's talk about comments. The flamingo has a lot to say about comments. But what do you have to say about comments? )
