Sorry to be so late getting this up-- Today was my daughter's last day of school for the year, and she was only at school for two and a half hours. I'm afraid her coming home distracted me from posting.

Can you write when there are other people around? Does it depend on who they are?

I'm not so good at writing when my daughter's around, not since she learned to ready seven or eight years ago. I never know when she's going to come my way. Mostly, she's not interested in what I'm writing or reading, but... I can't be sure she won't read what's on the screen. Of course, by now, she's searching the internet for things on her own, so for all I know, she may be reading fic. I don't figure it will do her any harm. I just hope she'll talk to me if she has questions.

I can write when my husband's around, usually, and he's good about letting me do it. He does like to have the TV on, however, which is a distraction.

Writing around other people... Well, I don't generally. If we're visiting people or if we have company, my laptop's closed, and it's been years since I tried writing at a coffee shop or anything like that. I suspect that a lot would depend on whether or not I felt like anybody was in a position to see what I was writing.
