How long do you hang onto your paused WIPs? Does it depend on the story or you have a general rule about when to abandon something you haven't worked on for month/years?

I expect to do no writing today. We're having Thanksgiving at our house for a change. There'll only be one guest, but there's still a lot of cooking and cleaning to do.

I keep WIP forever. I keep thinking that I'll get back to them eventually. That's why I like the Finishathon on LJ. It gives me a chance to take an old, partly finished work and complete it. Of course, that's just once a year. I have so many fragments that I could do the Finishathon all year long. I just keep getting distracted by other shiny writing opportunities.

Finally finished chapter 8 of my long Avengers fic. Not 100% happy with everything but at least I am making progress again.

I never really abanon my WIPs, even if I need 50 years to eventually finish them :D

Too much cooking and eating and not enough writing time! However, the rest of the weekend is ahead of me so we'll see what can be accomplished!

I'm afraid I hang on to everything, even when it's stalled. I truly intend to finish them all, because each story is precious to me. Even if all my readers fall away because of lack of progress, I will still finish one day, because in the long run, my stories are for me and I want to seem them completed. I am actually still working on them, even when they like they are stalled, though it's been months, even years for some of them. I am constantly fiddling with them and mulling over each of them, and even if new chapters don't come out of that, progress is made which will eventually show in some actual writing.

That said, I really do need to get a move on and concentrate on finishing up the couple that are close to being done! :-D

I wrote a little

I wrote a little on the way up to my cousin's, and a little more on the trip home.

Went back through several paused stories a year or so ago. Stitched several together into a dead file, but don't think I completely threw out anything. I needed to reference some a few months past, and just pulled everything up from backup, so I need to go through it all again.

It's been a very very long time since I have done a good backup of anything. That needs to be on the agenda for tonight!
