I hope the writing is going well for you all today :)

I'm actually about to go to my bed but I haven't had any time to write today as I've been traveling since the early hours of this morning, but I did finish editing a chapter of my fic last night and will be getting back to that tomorrow as I'll have the house to myself for a few hours while my mum and step-dad are at work.

Discussion topic: pen name. Is your pen name the same as when you started writing? Have you ever changed it?

I recently decided that my pen name was getting to be a little childish for a 29 year old and it no longer fits where I am with my life and my writing so I decided to change it to something a bit more mature, that reflects where I am with most things and my new pen name combines my nickname and my other half's last name, the only thing I won't be doing is changing my name on the roughly 300 fics I've written and posted over the years (it would take me forever).

I was thirty when I picked my penname, so I've had no impulse to change it. If I did change it, I'm anal enough that I'd probably change it on all my fics, everywhere that I could.

Of course, I took my penname from a nickname given to one of my table top role playing characters that I'm not certain was complementary. I don't care. It's mine.

I've had a bunch of pen names in my time! I generally use this one (randomling) in fandom, but went through a phase of using catviret, and had a fic journal called wanderingwombat on livejournal.

It's ages since I wrote any original fiction. In my head, my original fiction pen name is some combination of one of my first and middle names, and one of two last names from my paternal grandmother's ancestry. Can't really decide which of the four combinations I like best!

I have written about two pages so far today, and worked on research/organizing my primary-focus-story a little bit.

I actually posted - yay me! - a short story I wrote in mid 2010 combining the characters from the Equalizer show along with original characters (and others mentioned from other shows) and the Terminator AU. No Terminators, just what I picture the setting as being from the few parts I have seen of T1 and T2.

Found this story the other day, and it triggered an idea for further down the timeline, so when I finish and post it, at least someone should know what AU I am centering in.

I really like my usual fanfic pen name, controls_lady. That's what I am on LJ and IJ. I do not remember why I did not use it when I signed up for Dreamwidth.

Nuts - I forgot to put the story on Archive of Our Own as well. Will remedy that later. I think I am under tramseyer there, but have not visited in a while.

I am still struggling with too much email and using my time correctly. We are pretty socked in today by weather; the only vehicles I have seen moving are street department related. I should have much more accomplished than I currently do, so am adjusting.

Hope everyone is staying safe and warm. Keep writing - or thinking about it :).

Wrote today and yesterday each 600 words, but I intend to do write more. Want to hit 1000 words before either going to bed or hitting the playstation ;)

I used Barbayat since I first came online and I intend to keep that name for all my online activities, especially my fanfics. It seems to be a name only used by me. And Tanith Lee, Barbayat is a character in her novel Volkavaar. Since Barbayat in that book is a woman so old that the female lead mistook her for a stone on their first meeting, I think I am safe to keep it till I die of old age :D And if I shall became immortal, it would still fit ;)

Have I mentioned before that there should be a "laid about and did sweet f-a" option on those ticky boxes?

No time to write as yet today, but I might try to at least spend some time with my outlines or something before bedtime.

I have used the same pen name since I started writing, and have never changed it. I had to use a different name on LJ when I started a journal there because my pen name was already taken, but other than that, I'm Linaewen wherever I go. ;-)

mab_browne: Vera from the Giles cartoons - text says 'In my spare time I'm a wicked mad slash addict (Vera slashes)

I've been Mab or else Mab Browne for nine years. I've had a couple of urges to 'reinvent' myself, and at one point experimented with a gen pseud - which basically got subsumed by my non-gen fannish activities. About three years ago I attempted another name for a different fandom, as an experiment in starting in a fandom from the ground up, which was unfortunately derailed by some unpleasant circumstances. So at this point, I'm staying Mab. *g*

Writing? Not happening at the moment. :-(
