Hi everyone, hope you're having a good day with the writing and other things. I had an unexpected day off with my shifts getting swapped and with the extra time I've got some editing done along with a little planning for another fic.

Discussion topic: do something scary. We all have things that scare us but what about when it comes to writing. What situations, themes, characters, fandoms etc scare you to write? Have you ever written or attempted to write them?

My big writing fear is pulling off a smutty M/M/F threesome and make it convincing. I'm not sure what it is that puts me off but whenever I try to write, it just "looks" awkward and feels a tad unnatural. On saying that, I rarely venture in to NC-17 territory unless it is something I need to write.

I was quite nervous about writing domestic violence and drug addiction too, I have written both those themes now so they are less scary to me but I doubt I'll ever revisit those particular themes unless an idea or something from my source materials for either grabs my attention.

I'm scared of writing action sequences, specifically combat. My imagination doesn't work that way. I tend to want to handwave the whole thing and just say who won, but that doesn't work very well in most stories. I'm also intimidated by scenes with more than three characters together in one place, at least if all of them talk. It's a lot to track, and I often end up dropping one or more characters.

My biggest fears: writing action/fight scenes, and writing M/M. I've been practicing the action stuff and I'm feeling more comfortable with it now than I did 3-4 years ago, but I've yet to write any (m/m) slash fic. Being a female author who struggles to write male characters even in gen or het, trying to write two male characters being romantically involved with each other is really daunting (even if I ship them!). I'm sure I could do it if I tried, but the fear of doing it terribly wrong (and having to live with the shame forevermore) keeps me from ever seriously attempting it.
