WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 28 -- Tuesday

Hello on Tuesday!  I apologize for missing yesterday, it was a holiday here and there was just too much happening to get to the computer for a check in.

What kind of a writing day has it been today?

For Discussion:  Do you ever go back and read what you've written just for fun?  Do you find yourself happy with your work or are you critical of it?

I have written actual words since I last checked in, but haven't had time to type them up and add to them. What I scribbled on scraps of paper seems like it might be mostly complete, and even if it isn't, there is enough there that I can add to it easily to finish up. I'm hoping that I'll get some time today at some point to work on it.

I often go back and reread my stuff, especially if I've been stalled in my writing for a long time. It's a good reminder of what the story was doing, and an even better reminder to myself that I can actually tell a good tale. So it's a useful exercise as well as an encouraging one. I'm almost always happy with my work, though I can usually find something to edit here and there!

I spent some time talking through what I need to write with my husband. This story requires combat, something I'm really, really bad at writing, and I have to make a couple of decisions about how closely to stick to canon. I think I have a better idea of what I'm doing than I did.

I likely won't write today (my husband's off work and wants to spend the day celebrating my birthday) or tomorrow (my sister-in-law is coming down for shopping and lunch). Thursday, however, will be the day to start. This only has to be 500 words. I can do that, right?

Well, edited mostly but also worked on a newer fanfic that is more pornish but as always I can not resist to have minimal plot :( ... at least I got around to post another chapter today. Hope my continued output does not scare away my beta ...

I often re-read old stories, which usually ends with me wanting to edit them ... but I also like to see what ideas I had, what mistakes I made and where I have improved ...

I did a little editing yesterday and today, now I've finished work, I'll be doing more editing and hopefully a little writing too.

I still need to get the time line of my ST:Voyager fic fixed. Working backwards with "Year of Hell" events seemed like a good idea when I started it. I'm sure it can be fixed after a rewatch, if not I'll keep some of the plot points for something else.

I tend to not look at my old fics because I can be overly critical of my work, even when it is something I didn't post.

It's almost embarrassing how often I read my own fic for entertainment. Or it would be, if I wasn't bent and determined to banish said embarrassment. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't write it!

Sadly, due to school stresses I must declare a temporary fic moratorium.

I wrote! Which I hadn't done in a long time. Only 3% of my goal thus far, but I will keep writing today and get a bigger bit hammered out into rough shape. It feels good to write again.

I also have been thinking about my fic for the last few days, and writing in my head. Will need to find a beta soon I hope.

I do go back and reread things I've written - for fun, for ideas, to remind myself that I CAN write and finish things, good things even. Also to get a sense of how my writing comes across after getting some real distance from it. I also go back and reread my notes and ideas for other works occasionally.
