Today's discussion topic: Opinion seems to be split over crack-fic. Which side do you fall on, love it or hate it?

Kind of depends for me. I'm not gaga over it, but I don't loathe it either. I've written a few pieces that some would construde as crack!fic (putting the Ninth Doctor in a dress probably counts a bit as crack!fic, yeah?), but reading it definitely depends on what mood I'm in and what I'm inclined to read when I'm in that mood. So I guess as far as which side I'm in, kind of like, but not love 100% of the time.

In the right hands, I love it! Occasionally you'll come across a fic that you can tell is trying really hard to be funny but . . . falls short. The majority of the time, however, it's a welcome read. Particularly in fandoms with more serious/bleak source material - or source material that is currently going through a dark period - crack!fic can bring some welcome levity.
