Discussion: sex scenes. Do you find sex scenes easy or difficult to write? Do you show or fade to black?

I often find sex scenes quite difficult to write because I have to think a lot more about what makes my characters tick, their turn ons and turn offs etc and although I sometimes show, I prefer to fade to black and move along to the next scene.

I find them both easy and hard. I often find it impossible to fade to black, I just can't seem to let the sexy times go unsaid, so get stuck writing these long, detailed sex scenes, which are often where my writing gets stuck so the characters are left hanging forever as I work through the scene week after week. I tired writing fade to black, but then I got stuck with the story feeling unfinished.

What's funny, is that for reading, I like only one or two sex scenes, and then for everything to fade to black. Reading sex scenes gets repetitive.

I find sex scenes challenging and will often prefer a fade to black. The majority of the sex scenes I have written are non-consensual. I have no idea why that's easier for me to write than a scene where everybody's having a good time, but there it is.

I have found that, as my daughter has grown, I have a harder time writing anything explicit. She hasn't tried reading any of my fic yet and may never be interested, but I can't seem to shake the feeling that she might. She's ten, and there are things she's definitely not ready to read.

I've been traveling for almost 2 weeks, and I'm getting frustrated at not being able to get any writing done. Too much going on, too many people to visit! However, other than the fact that no writing is happening, it's been a good two weeks.

I haven't reached a point in any of my writing as yet where a sex scene is required. Therefore, I am greatly intimidated by them! I hope eventually I'll get there with one story, thought -- at which point I suspect I'll fade to black. ;-)
