I'm having a lot of trouble focusing and just getting started right now, so I thought I'd ask-- What do you do to get yourself to start writing? This can be either starting a new story/chapter or starting a writing session. Tell me your tricks so that I can try them out.

Date: Friday, October 10th, 2014 15:02 (UTC)Then I reread anything I have already written, whether it be a previous chapter or just the notes I have made for whatever story it is I am working on. If I'm really out of sync with writing, I'll do some canon research (read canon or watch a film/episode) that gets me on track with my characters. Then I open my document and put on some music and peck away until I have an opening on paper. That first part opening the chapter or the new story is the hardest for me -- once I can get that going, it tends to open the flood gates, so to speak.
Best wishes on getting focused!
