Discussion: erm, I have no idea what we can talk about today. Brain fail. How about a general chit chat and anything goes. Tell us what challenges your doing, any deadlines that are looming, real life stuff if you want.

I have a significant backlog of stories that need writing or updating. As far as challenges go, the one on the table is a Yulefic exchange that is due at the end of the month. There is no messing with that deadline, so that is the fic I am concentrating on this month. I have several other challenge fics overdue, which I will likely work up in January -- among them is a character study and a recipe fic. Even though they are late, I can still submit them.

My main chapter WIP needs updating, it's been months since the last chapter. I also have a chapter WIP that is almost finished -- one or two chapters more and I could call it complete, but I just haven't had time to get back into it enough to finish it up. I am hoping that a two week break over the holidays will go a long way to getting me back on track with writing. I have another WIP that has been dormant for several years -- it would be nice to get back into that one, as well, since it could be finished up with just a couple more chapters.

Another thing I am currently involved in that is related to writing fic is that I am one of the admins of a story archive that is shutting down in the near future due to problems with the server and the domain. I will be heavily involved in moving the huge number of stories on that archive to another archive so that they won't be lost. I hope that this will not take over my life too much and prevent me from writing new fic!

In other news, I am desperately looking forward to a break from my hectic routine. My two week Christmas holiday can't come soon enough!

I'm kind of stalled out on my Yuletide fic. I need to prod myself hard and get moving again. There are about ten days left, and I want to get it beta read before I post. I'm thinking I need to chop out a few paragraphs and go back and start that section over. The current trend in the conversation goes places I don't want to go.

I think, for today, though, I'll focus on going back and editing in some description. My characters are currently sitting in a featureless flat. I think they're at a table. I know they have tea and petits fours. Beyond that... Nothing. The character whose flat this is has a very distinctive style that I need to capture.

Spent today doing beta for another 'fic. Like I said before, this helps keep me sharp, but there was quite a lot to do, so I didn't have a lot of time for writing on my own end.

Discussion: Well, I did do a drabble for Fan Flashworks, and I'm mentally gearing up for the next Challenge Week at Fic Promptly, but there's also Fandom Stocking to consider, prompts at Are You Game?, goodness knows how many bingo amnesties ending soon ....
