WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 30 -- Friday

Hello on Friday!  I'm running a bit late today, sorry about that!

What kind of a writing day has it been today?  Or, if you haven't gotten down to writing yet, how did it go yesterday?

•     I thought about my fic once or twice
•     I wrote
•     I did some planning and/or research
•     I edited
•     I've sent my fic off to my beta
•     I posted today!
•     I'm taking a break
•     I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment

For Discussion:  Do you find that your ideas come before you start writing or after?  Or is it a mix of the two?

I often get my ideas just sitting around or something I am reading or a scene from the car window triggers a possible story idea -- however, I do find that sitting down to research it makes the idea better.  Also, if the idea is not well-formed to start with, it will definitely give birth to more and better ideas as I write.  So I guess it's a mix of the two for me.
