Hello on Wednesday! What kind of a writing day has it been today -- or yesterday, if today hasn't gotten going yet?

Discussion: Is word count important to you? Do you keep track of it as you write? Do you aim for a specific count when writing?

I did planning and research and a bit of editing. I think I'm finally back on track with writing, and I'm determined not to get off track again. Even if I just do a bit of work on my writing projects each day, that's progress.

I do keep track of my word count, mostly because it just encourages me that I'm making progress, and I have to record it when I complete a fic because most of the archives I post to require a note of the word count. Sometimes it's necessary to keep track of it, if what I am writing is a fixed-length fic, but otherwise, I don't worry too much if what I write is short or long.

Today hasn't gotten going yet but the week's progressing okay so far. I keep an eye on wordcount both as a way to keep steady daily progress and to try to estimate how much story might be left. Lately I guess pretty wrong, though.

Miserable day. I was robbed. =( Not held up at gunpoint or anything, but my smartphone was stolen from me at work, so I've been stressed out. Still going to try and write despite that.

On word counts: This is where my OCD is strongest. I always aim for a count ending in 5 or 0.
