WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 29 -- Tuesday

Hello on Tuesday!  What kind of a writing day has it been today -- or yesterday, if today hasn't gotten going yet?

•     I've sent my fic off to my beta
•     I posted today!
•     I'm taking a break
•     I did something else that I'll talk about in a comment

Discussion - Do you get story ideas at night as you are dropping off to sleep?  What do you do to preserve these ideas?  Hope you'll remember in the morning?  Get up and write?  Keep pen and notepad by your bed?  Write a memo in your phone?

Did a bit of writing yesterday, a couple of hundred words only, but it got me started, and I can definitely work with it today -- might even be able to finish up if the story flows!

Because I've been working with an outline for a fic and doing a lot of research and thinking, I've had this situation several times this week where the story started writing itself as I'm drifting off to sleep. I know from experience that I will NOT remember anything useful in the morning, so I have had to get up to write down my ideas. One night I had my phone handy and was able to write a memo, but otherwise, I have to get up and go find paper and pencil. I'm glad to have those notes today to work from instead of having to try to remember the glorious idea I had and lost because I didn't get up!

Wrote two shorts today for a total of about 1,500 words. One of those posts happened at a community that is new to me (smallfandomflsh). Speaking of such communities, I have signed up at inkingitout for 2016. Feels like a big sister to this community, since it covers the entire year.

I get quite a number of ideas while I am waiting for the sandman, and they tend to come back when I am in the process of waking up in the morning. If I go straight to the computer from bed (not unusual), that gives me the best chance of turning a random idea into a story.
