More plotting and I wrote all of 10 words. Two whole sentences. But plotting actually takes quite a lot of brain power to do, so I am OK with this. I don't find characterization all that hard, but if I don't actually plan out what everybody is doing beforehand, then they just wander around being moody smartasses.
For writing programs, I use AbiWord (it's just a word processing program like Word) and sometimes Scrivener. I also use Storybook which is awesome for plot. AWESOME, I TELL YOU. It has color coding, so if you have a plot with multiple points of view, it's really easy to keep track of who knows what, when they know it and where they are.
