Date: Friday, July 1st, 2011 03:17 (UTC)I seem to more naturally tend to write longer pieces? But I can do shorter pieces as well. It depends on what it's for/what I'm writing/etc.

Date: Friday, July 1st, 2011 03:51 (UTC)I seem to have a propensity for long fic, and I do like writing it. Maybe because I find it easier to say what I want to when I have room to expand! I do enjoy shorter pieces as well, though I tend not to do drabbles -- probably because I like being wordy!

Date: Friday, July 1st, 2011 05:49 (UTC)I like writing shorter pieces, cuz the one long-ish fic I've been working on feels v. difficult to me, ahahaha. Plus there's something so satisfying about snapping out a shortfic, focusing in on one moment or one thought. Every word counts so much more in a shortfic; there's less room for excess verbiage, etc. & yeah, I like the satisfaction of posting a fic, so shortfic being done quicker gives me more of that. ;) I think my brain tends to come up w/ideas more suited to shorter pieces anyway.

Date: Friday, July 1st, 2011 10:52 (UTC)I prefer short pieces because I finish them. I struggle to keep myself on track to finish a chaptered fic. Average length of fic is one to five thousand words. But it depends on what I'm writing and why.

Date: Friday, July 1st, 2011 11:08 (UTC)I don't think it's that I prefer one over the other really, but I'm not a very good plotter so my stories just tend to be shorter. I have one major fic in each of my two more involved fandoms. I'm hoping to add a third longfic to my repertoire in my third new favorite fandom--just waiting for the inspiration and plot line to come to me.

Date: Friday, July 1st, 2011 13:02 (UTC)I feel like I have nearlly equal amounts of short and longfics. It's not a matter of preferring one over the other, but of giving the stories as little or as much space as they need.
