So how's your progress for the day?

Have you written, edited, beta read, refilled the creative well, cursed the muse?

Tell us what's going on with your challenge (or other) fic today.

Discussion question: About pairings...have you ever gone outside your comfort zone and written a pairing you liked, but found you couldn't write, or a pairing you didn't like, and found you could?

Yesterday I spent some time deciding what the actual title of my Big Bang WIP is going to be, rather than the lengthy temporary thing I had been calling it. So that's good. Currently. I have my WIP document open on my computer, and my writing music ready to go, but I'm not doing anything with it yet. But I'm going to start soon! ;-)

My current challenge status is that it's finish by the end of the week, and I've got 10K to go. However, I am currently in a place where I can write without interruption if I want to, because I have the coming week off, and I feel very confident that it's all going to work out nicely.

I've never attempted writing romance/pairings but once -- and it actually hasn't been published yet. It started out being out of my comfort zone, because I don't feel confident in writing romantic relationships, but it turned out well. I've never dealt with two established characters in a pairing; my one attempt involved an established character and an OC, so that made it easier to control!

Yay, an update from me which involves actual writing!! I have written a little over 1,000 words to complete the next chapter. It needs a bit of editing and brushing up, but I'm moving forward at last. Whew!

I did some tiny edits for a short WIP... it's inching towards completion.

I also got my main WIP back from my beta, who gave me incredibly helpful comments -- just the sort of thing I desperately needed. Am slightly intimidated about revamping it all, even though I know it needs it, but... it also got me excited about the story again, & ready to go back into it. I so needed that kind of reinvigoration!!!

I've been away for an extended weekend with the family, so I didn't get as much computer time as I'd have liked to have. I wrote 1600 words the past four days. But I'm quite sure now how to tackle a plot point that I've left very vague so far, and I had a RL person with whom to fangirl over canon. :D I'm also now roughly 1/4 into my outline. I like the reassurance that I'm not only writing words, but also moving the plot along.

As for the discussion--I'm very OTP-ish, and I normally only write about the one pairing that interests me. But I've eyed a prompt for a ficathon which involves one half of my OTP with a non-regular character, and although I'd dearly love to read about those two, I'm getting more and more certain it's not me who's going to write that story. I'm not sure if the problem is the pairing, though, or if it's because the character in question only appears in one episode, giving me awfully little to work with.

Unfortunately I have a scene swirling around which I know is somewhere in the middle of my story rather than the next one to be written, but I do know what happens next. Meanwhile, though, I think I want to double the word count of the first scene, so it'll have to get a lot more dense. Hmm.

For my second SeSa challenge I had to write the two characters in my fandom I'm least interested in, together, a pairing which I hadn't done before and didn't much care for. Also, I had to write it for Torch, so, yeah. But it worked out okay, and I've written that pairing since. I don't *think* I've ever found a pairing I couldn't write, and in fact, having produced rather a lot of stories I like the challenge of a pairing I haven't done before, or haven't done much.

Progress? haven't written anything for a couple of weeks :(

I'm hoping to get my red pen edit finished on my WIP today but we'll see. LJ is still down so I can't get a prompt from a challenge comm, I was thinking that doing a prompt fic might make me more inclined to edit.

Lack of progress lately is down to been stupidly busy at the moment, trying to sort stuff out for uni especially my student loans and also with work and it's all very stressful. Then there's my 2 trips down to England next month too. So yep busy as anything right now.

With pairings I tend to write whatever pops up but I have written a pairing I don't like in one fandom. I've yet to write a character I don't like. I used to have OTPs but I always get bored of writing the characters after a while so I tend to just go with whoever is vying for attention when it comes to pairings.

Oddly, it doesn't work for me. When I actually get to that scene, it might well be somewhat different - I've already had two competing versions in my mind as to who the second person in the conversation is... and also, it's one of those yummy emotional scenes which provides an impetus for me to write. If I've written it already, I won't have to get there, and that's bad!
