This entry is brought to you by cold so deep that it rivals the surface of Mars. Brr! What have you been doing?

— Thinking. Maybe a little, maybe a lot.
— Writing.
— Planning and / or researching.
— Editing.
— Sending things to the beta.
— Posting!
— Relaxing, taking a break, etc.
— Other stuff-ing. Look at the comment.

Question: On a scale of 1 (not bad) to 10 (Deep Hurting ™), how painful is the editing process for you?

Here as well. Minus 15 windchill.

Planning the next chapter. Working on my words for today.

Editing is Deep Hurting. I agonize over every word. I tend to write with cadence, it just makes the story flow for me when there is this internal rhythm to the words, not rhyming though. So editing is difficult but the hardest part is letting go of never feeling it's good enough.

I've had a reasonably productive day on the thinking front! I posted the first chapter of a short WIP yesterday, and am working on plotting out the second chapter; I'm hoping to start writing it this evening.

As for editing, I love editing. Given the choice, I would probably rather edit than write, but I have to do one in order to get to the other. I like finding the perfect phrasing/word and getting the plot to line up exactly how I want it to--it's fun to look at the finished result.

Today I edited for another friend (this has been quite the week so far!), edited my [community profile] chocolateboxcomm piece for the final time, and then I wrote another scene for the WIP chapter that I want to finish by Friday. I'm in a good spot to keep to that deadline, too.

Editing my stuff is a 1. Editing for others can range from a 1 to a 10 depending on what shape it was in (it's rare, but I've had a few doozies sent to me over the years that left me scratching my head on where to even start).

Did a combo of other stuffing alongside writing and posting something.

On a scale of 1-10, the editing process is usually about a 5 or 6 depending on which WIP I'm working on at the time of editing.

Extreme cold where I am, as well; as a result, my workplace is closed, so I have the rest of the week off. I had all day to write, but did I? No! So I guess that counts as taking a break.

I enjoy editing so it's a 1 for me. Every now and then, I do some editing for someone else that approaches a 10, but that usually involves someone's academic essay, so part of that 10 is the boring subject matter!

Still haven't decided what to work on next. I keep thinking there's another new idea out there somewhere.

I'm always editing as I'm writing, to the point where they might as well be the same thing.

Having decided it was better to do at least some work on an existing WIP before starting a new one, I managed to do a fairly decent chunk on the Daria screenplay. Making a chart of the scenes on paper not only helped jump start the writing, but also gave me a better idea of how to break up the chapters.

Envisioning. Trying to imagine how I will feel once I finish what I'm writing.
