Discussion question: Sequels – Have you ever written a sequel to a fic you wrote, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?

Up to 3,500 words now, yay! Still not clear how the middle of the story is going to go, but I'm beginning to be confident that it'll come.

Most of the time, when a story is finished, it's *finished* (otherwise I wouldn't have stopped writing it), but here and there if there's potential for a sequel, it can be quite fun to see what happens.

I turned what was expected to be a one-off little squib into an 'episodic' that currently has about ten stories in it. And I've done sequels here and there - my epic Lance Bass/Adam Lambert story now has half a dozen sequels because I fell in love with the pairing. And there have been a few others which got follow-ups, mostly quite a long while after the original. One got a Prologue as well as an Epilogue. Sometimes it happens.

I still get quite excited about word count (usually load a document into Word for the word count at the end of the writing day), because for a long time my normal story length was around 2,000 words. I've been writing longer than that for a while now, but it's very pleasing to find that I *can* write longer.

But that feeling of *wanting* to write, that's the best thing!

No new words, really, but am going over edits & things for my big WIP-which-is-now-two-fics. (& actually there's a section I've pulled out for a potential third fic too) It's going all right -- really, my beta was freakin' brilliant, b/c everything she suggests makes SO MUCH SENSE.

I've never written a sequel; I tend to write clusters of stories all based in the same set of headcanon. So they're not direct sequels, more just like... More Tales From My Headcanon.

I do like reading sequels though!

a pair of companion pieces--same scene different POVs.

Oh, I like those sorts of paired stories!

Yay for writing! Even if it's not the stuff you were hoping to work on, yay for words flowing!!

360 words which got me to the end of a looong scene! \o/

I'm not much of a sequel-writer, generally. There's one story where I've entertained the idea of writing very, very loose sequels that can be read on their own. Let's see if this is going to happen one day...

The writing is going great!

I finished up yesterday with 1,300 words, plus some more editing that added some good stuff to already written passages. My electricity was off most of the day today, so I wasn't able to use my computer, but I now have 5 pages of handwritten stuff to type up to add to the 300 words I managed to write before the computer went down. From the looks of it, it could be a whole chapter's worth, as long as I can read my own handwriting!

I have to finish this Big Bang thing up by Saturday, even though it's not due until Sunday, because I'm going to be away on Sunday. Things seem to be flowing nicely, though, so as long as I don't get interrupted by any more power outages, I should be good to go.

I have written at least one sequel, simply because I wanted to keep going with the character and the first story had come to a good stopping place. I like sequels, and I like reading them. If it's a story I like, I never want it to end, anyway, so it's always great when there is more to follow!

Whoop! 1,420 more words written today. \o/ That puts me at only 5,000 words to go to meet the Big Bang minimum requirement. Will that finish the story, or will I have to keep going to wrap things up properly? We shall see...

Bleh, haven't done any writing the past few days due to busy with real life stuff and judging for this writing contest at a forum. Lots and lots of entries. >.>; I manage though to edit some things on my ladyfest fic my beta suggested, which were very good ones. I'm going to rewrite the story a bit and then send the story again to her.

I have written sequels before. One of them is because I have some people asking a sequel for a story I wrote and an idea popped inside my head when I was with family, haha. I'm cool with sequels as long as it's not like Hangover 2 (or so I heard XD; ).
