Discussion: music. Do you listen to music when you write? Do you make playlists for your fics?

This morning I uploaded a playlist for a long fic that I'm still working on and did a little writing and research. The rest of the day I've been resting because I'm not feeling well.

Music is always on in my house, so yeah I mostly have something playing when I'm writing. I do make playlists but usually only for fics that are longer than 2000 words.

I got no writing done. Life took over (and I squandered some time on just relaxing)…

I *sometimes* listen to music while I write. Most of the time I can find it distracting, but some fics I end up with a theme song that helps me with feeling the mood. It really depends.

The only thing I made a playlist for was a ficmix I wrote years ago (Narnia - 16 ficlets, each had their own corresponding song that I wrote while listening to it and was meant to be read while listening to the song). Otherwise, not usually - if I get more than one song that fits the mood, it's a rare occurrence.
