What ficcish achievements did you manage today?

Today's discussion topic: What can't you write through? Music? Silence? People sitting next to you? Being alone? Heat? Cold?

Today I had a bit of a stress-related meltdown, so not v. productive for fic. I did write about 800 words, but they probably won't be usable. Still, pleased I managed to write anything at all.

I can't write if there are people next to me, & if it's so hot that sweat trickles down my face as I sit at the computer (which of course gives off a lot of its own heat).

Music & silence are both fine for me at different times. If it's so cold I have to put on fingerless gloves to type, then probably not super-great, but at least I can add layers & have a hot drink next to me!

I got a little bit written this morning before heading off to a beta read/retreat thing. I didn't actually submit anything for that, but my regular critique group met after that and we discussed books, publishing, movies, books and brainstormed a bit with one another.

Tonight, I'll be working a bit more on my HP fic.

Discussion answer...the major thing I can't write through is major stress, though on the other hand, sometimes I need it to escape to. Also if I'm really pissed off I can't focus enough to write either. I freeze up if someone is sitting next to me or behind me. I hate that. Music can be okay, silence if fine, general noise is fine. I can ignore most of it.

Today I wrote 2 fic. Perhaps if I write 2 more, I can have a bingo.

I can't write through major stress, and people standing right behind me.It makes me feel exposed.

Things like car horns really bother me when I'm trying to concentrate. Sometimes I want music, sometimes I want silence; it depends on my mood and what I'm writing, and if I'm writing or editing.
I'm also Goldilocks. I have problems doing anything if I'm too hot or too cold :D

I had hoped to work at getting myself back in the writing groove, but I procrastinated mightily and did other things. So no ficcish things happened. I did get the laundry done, though. ;-)

I can write with music, but not if there are words -- it has to be instrumental. I can write if people are nearby but not if they talk to me. I don't seem to be able to write when I am away from home; I used to be able to, but it's getting to be a useless endeavor to carry my notes around when I travel, since I can't do anything with them. Also, stress makes me want to blow off all responsibility, including writing, so that's another thing that keeps pen from paper.

No accomplishments this weekend.

I write most comfortably in the morning, when things are quiet and I'm feeling pretty mellow. I can write with some "natural" kinds of noise (my birds are right nearby and their sounds don't distract me), but voices are a definite distraction. If there's music playing outside, I'm okay with it if it's not coming from really close by. Definitely can't write if it's too hot, but cold I think is okay, as long as my teeth aren't chattering!
