WIP Challenge Check-in, Day 1 -- Monday

Hello on Monday and welcome to November (and NaNoWriMo, if you are participating)!

How's the day going so far for fic? (If you haven't gotten started on your day as yet, how did yesterday go for writing fic?)

Excellent for me so far, though I will have to go to work soon and that means I have to set aside my writing for a bit, hopefully I can get back into it. I wrote for about 90 minutes, and while it only amounted to about 700 real words, it was a good time of writing and research combined.

My five words: Good start to the day!

I spent hours finishing this draft so i could send it to my beta.
Crossing the finish line, collapsing.
I just feel drained, i hate finishing drafts, i want to work on them forever and now i hate it and know that it's terrible.
It will get better by tomorrow, when i'll have comments to work on.

It's the first official day of November's WIP challenge, so I'm excited to have a fresh slate.

Today I'm going to take stock of what WIPs I'm currently working on and pick what I want to work on this month. There's, of course, only so much time, so I'm going to keep it manageable.

As such today's writing goal isn't about getting any words down on the page though that would be nice but rather assessing where I'd like to spend my writing energy and go from there.

My five words: Half the battle is arriving.

I know you're exhausted, stressed, and not feeling good about your writing but congratulations on finishing your draft despite this being a part of the process that you hate.

Happy first day of NaNo!

More than 90 minutes today, though admittedly distracted.

How I feel about it: At least I hit wordcount?

That's a rough part of the process to hit. I usually feel relieved when I finish a draft... but with the same "oh god, this is all terrible, isn't it?" feeling mixed in.

I've discovered how difficult it is for me to have multiple WIPs in progress, haha.

And especially with the limitations of time!

I hope you were able to pick something that's inspiring for the month.

I'm mostly really happy with it. I spent about two hours (over the course of the day) working on it, and got some serious words in.

I am very happy.

I'm a little upset I didn't manage my time well today, and only got about 250 words worth of writing as a result.

I did get a chance to work out some characterization/backstory ideas with a friend, though, and that was fun. Hopefully that will make writing go smoother in the future.

Thank you. I tried just focusing on one project but I must like the chaos of having multiple WIPs because very little got done when I only had one thing to work on.

I know some people have said they enjoy the freedom of having multiple options to switch between, so they can pick whichever thing is most inspiring, or take a break if they run into a roadblock on one of them.

To be fair... I do that, actually. I think this time I just made the mistake of posting parts of multiple WIPs, so I feel guilty if I leave one back-burnered too long!
