Date: Monday, October 3rd, 2011 21:46 (UTC)Kinda outlined. Have something very vague on BB (there were public transport issues today) anyway the outline will likely be used for either a scene or a chapter in my huge l&o:svu wip even though I've not touched it for a while.
I have the next 2 days off and apart from finishing the seminar prep work the plan is to work on something (anything) fic wise :)
I actually get distracted very easily so I usually have my earbuds in to block out any/all background noise or I'll go down to the beach and just write while watching the sea (of course it depends on the weather)

Date: Monday, October 3rd, 2011 22:11 (UTC)Distracting things--I'm easily distracted by small noises from people in the same room. Like nervously tapping their feet or loudly chewing gum. Luckily, earplugs and music help against that. But that situation doesn't really occur when I write fic since I live alone.

Date: Monday, October 3rd, 2011 23:23 (UTC)I find lots of things distracting. And I always seem to need a chunk of time. I admire people who can scribble for five minutes and then do something else.

Date: Monday, October 3rd, 2011 23:57 (UTC)My number one distraction is noise; other people talking in particular. Luckily I have my noise-cancelling headphones (which recently broke and are currently being held together with tape DDD:). Also not sure if this counts as a distraction, but I often deal with foreign languages, which totally kills my motivation to work in English prose. Hearing random Spanish in a commercial or something really messes with my ability to work on writing.

Date: Tuesday, October 4th, 2011 00:10 (UTC)The most distracting is probably still the internet, but sprints or some other sort of timely pressure work fine to get me writing.

Date: Tuesday, October 4th, 2011 06:29 (UTC)I can be able to write if I have a window of a chatroom open, but if there's suddenly burst of activity or one of my friends is stressed and wanted to talk to me then I get really distracted, LOL.

Date: Tuesday, October 4th, 2011 07:00 (UTC)... I am afraid I'm my worst enemy at the distraction department - if I really set down to writing, not much distracts me except for the need to have a proper talk to someone. However, it's so difficult and fearful to start...

Date: Tuesday, October 4th, 2011 12:40 (UTC)I have a hard time writing when there's any kind of noise going on, particularly anything that involves words (people talking, or music with vocals). So, writing while someone's watching a loud TV? Definitely would not be happening for me. I work best in a quiet room with somewhat subdued lighting, so I can let my mind wander.

Date: Tuesday, October 4th, 2011 12:56 (UTC)As littlebutfierce said, someone able to see my screen freezes me up. Music with words unless they're blasting right in my ear. The anticipation of my hubby arriving home will make it difficult to concentrate (though you'd think I'd write like mad until he actually arrived). I think those are the main ones...

Date: Tuesday, October 4th, 2011 20:50 (UTC)Annoyances: people reading over my shoulder or interupting me when I'm in the middle of writing a sentence, the radio (when its not my choice but within earshot), the telephone, chores.
